Your best customers…

Winter Leaf

You would love to have me for a customer.

It’s not just because of the volume of stuff I would buy, though of course that’s important to you.

And it’s also not just because my understanding of your need to make a profit means that I won’t nickel and dime you every step of the way, though that certainly makes life more pleasant for you.

No, you would love to have me as a customer because, if I am satisfied… if I am treated well… if I feel appreciated… I will promote your business to others.

I didn’t say ‘might promote’… I said ‘will promote’. When I speak with people who fit the same profile, they will hear about you… if I am satisfied.

Every time.

Same goes for my wife and daughter.

You would love to have my neighbor for a customer.

It’s not just because of the volume of stuff he buys, though of course that’s important to you.

And it’s also not just because his understanding of your need to make a profit means that he won’t nickel and dime you every step of the way, though that certainly makes life more pleasant for you.

No, you would love to have Bill as a customer because, if he is satisfied… if he is treated well… he will promote your business to others.

Not ‘might’… but ‘will’.

Good people want to be helpful to others… Bill and his wife are just that way.

I bought a new battery for my car today… not because I wanted to… but because I had to.

After attempting to jumpstart my car in sub-freezing temperatures to no avail… my neighbor said, “Let me give you a ride over to Fleet…, that’s where I bought my battery; we’ll have this thing running in no time.”

Okay, let’s recap:

1) Frigid Wisconsin temps… two feet of snow… you can see your breath.

2) The Crown Vic will not start… it’s as cold inside the car, as it is outside the car.

3) Tomorrow is Christmas Eve… got a ton of stuff to do… none of which is getting done.

4) Bill’s offering a ride… the words “we’ll have this thing running in no time” is music to my ears.

************************************************************************************************************

I gratefully accepted his offer… the store he suggested got my business… and I was headed down Highway 41… warm… thirty minutes later.

Now, if I run into you tomorrow, and you need a battery for your car… what do you think I will suggest?

Yup… every time.

Takeaways:

1) I have the best neighbors… they could be your best customers.

2) There are likely thousands just like them within a five mile radius of your business.

3) Good people like to help others whenever possible.

4) Not having shopped at Fleet in several years, I just promoted them to the world.

5) This is not rocket science; it’s word of mouth… and new media.

I look forward to hearing from you.
